They understand the challenges facing businesses and provide the expertise to develop solutions that address those challenges. Our senior management team is actively involved in the day-to-day operations of our business and leads a team dedicated to making clients successful in reaching and exceeding all of their business goals.
As CBJ’s President, Matthew is responsible for the overall operations and strategic direction of the Company. Matthew continues the family legacy of his father and grandfather, in providing leadership to ensure the future success of the company. He oversees the collection department, legal department, and compliance.
Matthew started as a collector with CBJ Credit Recovery in 1983, which was owned and operated by his father William Hartweg. At that time, Matthew earned, and has maintained, his collector certification and compliance certification. Upon his father retiring in 1985, Matthew was elected president of CBJ and continues to hold this position to this day. Along with his brother Andrew, they purchased the business from their father in 1995. Matthew earned an Associate Degree in Business Administration and Business Law.
In his role as Vice-President, Andrew is responsible for the leading the Company's business development efforts. Andrew took on his current role in 1995 and, under his leadership new business, gross collections and gross revenues have increased over 300%. He also has direct oversight of Finance, Administration, IT, and Client Relations.
Andrew started in the collection industry in 1987 with CBJ Credit Recovery, which, at that time, was owned and operated by his father William Hartweg. Along with his brother Matthew, they purchased the business from their father in 1995. Andrew holds an Associate Degree in Business Administration, Mathematics and Information Technology and has earned his Certified Professional Business Executive (CPBE) designation from the Medical-Dental-Hospital Business Associates (MDHBA). He received MDHBA’s President’s Award in 2010, and was honored with the organization’s Robert T. Hellrung Award in 2011.
Director of Human Resources and Benefit Administration
As the Director of Human Resources and Benefit Administration, Amy is responsible for coordinating the Company’s recruitment and hiring efforts, compensation and benefits administration, along with training and development activities. Her other responsibilities include overseeing client services; to ensure incoming client inquiries are effectively managed and that all client requirements are met satisfactorily.
Amy joined CBJ in 1995 as a Legal Coordinator, and has been in her current position since 2003. Prior to joining CBJ, Amy was in the banking industry as customer service and loan officer. Amy holds an Associate Degree in Business Administration from Robert Morris College, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
